Day 1: Rome
Arrival in Rome and transfer to the Hotel. Afternoon dedicated to the guided visit of city centre to admire the famous squares, baroque buildings and the magnificent fountains: Navona Square, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Campo de’ Fiori, Farnese Square. At the end of the visit, come back to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Rome
After breakfast departure to Vatican City. Guided visit of the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter Basilica. The tour starts from Vatican Museums: we enter the Pinecone Courtyard, crossing the collection of Greek and Roman sculpture, admiring the famous statue of Apollus, the Laocoon and the Belvedere Torso, the statues of animals, the Coffins of St. Helen and St. Constance, the Galleries of Tapestries and the frescoed Maps of all Italy painted in 1585. The Rooms painted by Raphael and his pupils, ending with the amazing Michelangelo’s Sixtine Chapel. Afterward the tour will lead you inside the highest temple of Christendom: St. Peter’s Basilica with the Pietà by Michelangelo, the Jubilee Gate, Bernini’s main altar, the staircase enlightened by eternal lamps leading to the tomb of Saint Peter. Lunch in a typical restaurant. In the afternoon guided visit of the ancient Rome including Colosseum and Roman Forum. Dinner in a typical restaurant in Trastevere.
Day 3: Rome – Assisi – Siena – Florence
After breakfast departure to Assisi, town in Umbria region, well know all over the world as pilgrimage destination with Saint Francesco’s life places. Guided visit of the Basilica of San Francesco d’Assisi (St. Francis), World Heritage Site, to admire the wonderful frescos of Cimabue and Giotto. The tour proceeds to Siena. Walking tour of the gothic town admiring Piazza del Campo, where the renowned “Palio horse race” takes place every year, “Palazzo Comunale” (Town Hall), the Cathedral and the majestic Basilica of San Domenico. Departure to Florence. Accommodation at hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Florence
After breakfast departure to discover the “Cradle of the Renaissance”. Guided walking tour of the city centre including the beautiful Cathedral Square, Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s bell Tower, the Baptistery of St. John and Santa Croce, the 13th-century Franciscan Church with Cimabue’s famous crucifix. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon free time at leisure. We suggest to visit Uffizi Gallery to admire magnificent paintings of Leonardo, Giotto, Michelangelo, Botticelli and Raffaello. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 5: Florence – Padua – Mestre
After breakfast, departure to Venice. On the way stop in Padua, one of the most important cities of Veneto Region, well-known as the city of Saint Anthony. Guided walking tour of the city centre from the Prato della Valle Square to the Cathedral of St. Anthony, guarded by Donatello’s sculpture “Gattamelata”. At the end of the visit taste typical Italian “Spritz” Aperitivo, in one of the crowded squares of the city centre. Lunch in restaurant. Departure to Mestre. We suggest to have a stroll in Stra to visit the magnificent Villa Pisani and its gardens, one of the most important villas of Palladio with Tiepolo frescos. Arrival in Mestre, accommodation at hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Venice
After breakfast, departure to Venice coach station by coach and transfer by boat to the city centre. Guided walking tour of this unique city: St. Mark’s square, the Basilica of St. Mark, the Doge’s Palace, the bridge of sighs and the prisons. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon excursion to the island of Murano where you can assist to a demonstration of glass blowing. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Venice – Rome
After breakfast departure to Rome. On the way, stop in Ferrara, another important Renaissance city in Italy where the Estense court left indelible signs everywhere. Guided visit of the city centre with the magnificent Estense Castle, Diamond Palace. Lunch in restaurant. Departure to Rome. Arrival in hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Rome
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and come back to your destination.
